Nate Rivera

Latino Affairs Coordinator,

City of York

Natvidad Rivera, Jr., (his friends call him Nate), was named the first Latino Affairs Coordinator for the City of  York by Mayor Kim Bracey last winter.  Born in Puerto Rico, Rivera moved to the United States when he was 2 years old with his parents, settling in York – a place he calls his “hometown.”

A graduate of William Penn Sr. High School, he attended Central Penn Business School and later transferred to the Bradley Academy for the Visual Arts (now the Art Institute of York), graduating in 1989.  Rivera is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Ashworth College.

Rivera has a long history of working in and around the mental health profession and has been a community support specialist for a developmental disability disorder organization for more than 20 years. He also provides information and leadership skills to the Latino community in a variety of roles.

“I feel very blessed to have been able to  help and focus on the Latino community to bring about information, education and change in all of my past and present positions,” Rivera says. “Now, as the Latino Affairs Coordinator for the City of  York, I feel I’m right at home. Having all this experience, being able to work in my hometown with so many wonderful organizations and with the Latino Community for so long, I feel I have an edge because of it.”
